On the day you get married – after months of preparation and planning, tastings and fittings, tears of stress and joy – it is impossible to see the breadth of what your relationship will be like when you’re years into it. Often times, it’s difficult to see past the event filled reception. When you’re 11 years in, looking back at the starting line is a near impossibility. 11 years into your marriage, who will you be? Where will you be? What will you do? Who will your spouse be? Will you have kids? Own a home?
Ashley and I shot this wedding on the 11th anniversary of our marriage. And amazing to experience that while being present with a couple as they begin theirs.
Could we have ever dreamt up this life? Traveling the world to tell the story of people beginning their marriage?? It’s an unbelievable blessing.
This is a little glimpse into the first day of Erica and Ben’s marriage. It feels almost impossible to convey what a unique and vivacious couple these two are, what a beautiful group of loved ones surrounded them on this day, flying in from all over the world to share in their joy. All we know is that on the weekend of their wedding, we felt honored to be welcomed as closes friend would be. To walk the grounds at Erica’s lovely New England family home, ride in a row boat to get a boats-eye view of the ceremony site, watch the cliff jumpers leap off the cliffs as they said their vows, and smell the salty New England air as the glowing tents filled up with laughter. What a joy to tell the story that you will look back on for decades, Erica and ben! We hope you enjoy some of the highlights that stick in our minds.
